As a wedding photographer based in Alkmaar, I (Nienke Laan) document wedding days with a calm hand and a fresh, atmospheric eye. My work is rooted in a documentary style: I look for those small, unguarded moments and the natural interactions that give a day its true character. Light, color and composition are the building blocks of my wedding photography; with them I create images that immediately bring you back to the feeling of your day. How I work: we usually start with a no-obligation introduction — over coffee or via video — to discuss your wishes and the day’s schedule. On the day itself I prefer locations with beautiful natural light — outdoors in nature or bright indoor venues — because those are the conditions where I make fresh, atmospheric photos. During the reportage I pay attention to details, intimate moments and the bigger stories; from pre-wedding nerves to spontaneous congratulations and the celebrations afterwards. In addition to wedding reportage, I offer an engagement shoot: a relaxed way to get comfortable in front of the camera and to have lovely portraits for invitations or social media. At weddings I also give careful attention to family and group moments — always with the same calm and creative approach. My motivation is simple: I love real moments and city life, cosy coffee spots and the light in nature.
