I’m Fred Smulders of Studio Hoge Heren — a wedding photographer based in Rotterdam with over 25 years of experience. As a wedding photographer I believe the best images come when you can be yourselves: relaxed, genuine and not focused on staged poses. My approach is down-to-earth, with a healthy dose of Rotterdam humour and a keen eye for emotion. For razor-sharp detail and faithful colour I regularly shoot with Hasselblad cameras. My style is modern and colourful, leaving room for spontaneous images as well as carefully composed portraits. How we work: we always start with a personal meeting to discuss your wishes, timeline and the atmosphere you want to create. Many couples find it helpful to practise beforehand; for that reason I offer a pre-wedding session so you can get used to the camera and we can discover what suits you best. On the wedding day I combine preparation with a subtle presence: I’m where it matters, unobtrusive when necessary, and attentive for the moments that count. After the wedding I carry out a careful selection and professional post-processing. You’ll receive high-resolution images in both colour and black & white, ready to share or to print in a beautiful album. Would you like to combine image and sound? In collaboration with video specialists, Studio Hoge Heren can provide a wedding clip or a same-day edit — a lovely complement to the photography. I work from our spacious photo studio in De Zalmhaven, near the Erasmus Bridge, but I’m happy to follow your wedding across the Netherlands (and beyond) to document the day exactly as it was.
